FARMERS MARKET AND GARAGE SALES

I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was fantastic! On Saturday morning Ruben and I woke up and moseyed on over to our local farmers market. This past week has been a scorcher, so by 10'oclock on Saturday it was already 81 degrees. Since Ruben doesn’t do well in the heat we were quick at the farmers market. I picked up some gigantic beets, a head of purple cabbage and a few fresh herbs including fresh oregano that smelled amazing and was only $1.50 for the bunch. I am thinking of making Greek chicken kabobs with it. I also picked up marrow bones; I can’t wait to roast them once the weather cools down.

On our way out of the farmers market there was a snow cone stand that was calling our name, so we each got one. I know that all it is, is just sugar, food coloring, and water, but it was hot and it’s been years since I’ve had one and let me tell you it hit the spot! It was so hot outside that it was the perfect thing to cool down.

On our way home from the farmers market we stopped at a garage sale. I love garage sales you can find some pretty nifty things for dirt-cheap. I couldn't help myself and bought a few items. For everything that’s pictured, along with a folding table (that was FREE) we paid $7.50.

This is how much we paid for each item:

Both cork boards: $1.50
Kuhn Rikon Julienne peeler: $1
White serving platter: $2
California cook book: $2
Two wooden spoons: Free
8 napkin rings: Free
Picture frame: $1
Folding table: Free (not pictured)

My most prized possession out of everything we bought is the julienne peeler seeing as it costs $16 regular price and I only paid $1! I sure do love a good deal. :) I am also really happy with my serving platter and the folding table. The folding table is really old, but that’s what I loved about it, I think it has a lot of character.

Later on in the day we went to Palo Alto and had lunch, walked around a bit and than went to the movies to watch The Way Way Back. Great movie! If you get the chance I suggest checking it out. It’s a feel good movie, and I love Steve carrel. After the movie we came home ate dinner and went to bed.

Sunday was my parent’s 33rd wedding anniversary so we took them out to dinner. My parents go out to eat at a restaurant only once a year (no I am not exaggerating) and that’s when we take them for their anniversary. So whenever we go its always interesting because my mom cant stand to see any food left on anyone’s plate, so she tries to eat everything, but than makes herself sick to her stomach. Hahaha, its actually pretty entertaining.

And that was my weekend. Wasn’t it exciting?
